Greetings all,
I have some sensational news! I’ve just submitted my local marketing manuscript for publishing and expect that it should be ready for purchase by the end of June 2010. I have a little work left to do on the front and back cover and I hope to have that completed by the end of this week.
The book will expose many local marketing secrets that will allow your business to generate leads and win new clients at a local level. I will be taking pre-orders for the book so keep an eye out in the “News and Articles” section of this website.
Of course in writing the book I visited many of the local coffee shops in Revesby and as a result I thought that I would include “The Waitress Song” by Seth Sentry for your enjoyment.
Best regards,
Greg

Greetings all,
It was a sensational Saturday night for the LAM Plan team at Max Barnes birthday party and after spinning some tunes on the jukebox we came back with this week’s video clip “I’m not like everybody else” as a topic for this Monday’s local marketing discussion.
Your first reaction to that title and your business would probably be along the lines of “naturally my company is different to everybody else’s”. However, typically in any local area I think you will find a lot of “sameness” across competitors. For instance, check your local papers and take a look at the “me too” style of classified advertising. Consider the type, style and number of local marketing activities you undertake today that really set you apart from your competition. Ask yourself whether or not these programs really make your company stand out and more importantly: do these programs continually generate leads and help your company to win new business?
Taking time out from your business to review where you are at with your local marketing can be a valuable exercise in its own right. Local marketing has the power to differentiate your business in a positive sense and make you stand out in a crowded sector but there are some cases where you do want to be like everybody else – and that’s when they are winners!
If you’re part of a franchise group or a corporation with regional marketing budgets think about the winners within your own company. Uncover what local marketing activities are being implemented by the winners and replicate them in your local area. Use the Internet to look at the magical marketing campaigns other companies in your industry have successfully tried in other parts of the world and reproduce them in your territory. By imitating the winners you stand a good chance of repeating their great results in your region.
This week we’ve included a rendition of “I’m not like anybody else” from Jimmy and the Boys (the one on the jukebox) and the original 60’s hit by The Kinks.
I hope you enjoy the clip!
Best regards,
Greg Mullane
And the original Kinks version…
